'Jagame Thandhiram' directed by Karthik Supraj and starring Dhanush has been waiting for release for almost a year. Shashikant of 'Y Not Stuidos' has co-produced the film with Reliance.
The London-based action film 'Jagame Thandhiram' has been made on a budget of around Rs 75 crore. If the film is shot to promote UK tourism, it will be subsidized by the UK government. As such, the film has to get a grant of Rs 16 crore. There is also a rule that the grant is only available upon theatrical release. However, they say that some relaxation of the rule has been granted due to the corona environment. Thus the film is currently being sold in bulk for a direct release on Netflix.
Dhanush and Karthik Subramaniam have agreed to a theatrical release and the production team has set a date for the ODT release which has caused great controversy. The fact that the film is scheduled for a live ODT release even after the theaters open and 100 per cent seats are fully secured has raised many questions about the film in Kollywood as well.
The solution is yet to be reached as there is no social decision yet on the release between Dhanush and producer Sashikant. '' The film has sold out on Netflix. So, there is no turning back from that conclusion. It will take the picture around the world and add to it. The film can be released in theaters on the same day as it is released on ODT in India only, ”says the producer. But the big question is whether theater owners will approve the theatrical, ODT release on the same day.
The release of 'Jagame Thandhiram' will depend on the decision of the theater owners. Expect this issue to end in a couple more days!
